Just watched "There Will Be Blood" for the first time, and noticed something that I truly enjoyed about some specific scenes....
Overall, Wow! What an awesome story and film. Beautifully presented and absolutely enthralling. But, what I loved the most were the scenes when he's running (from/to) or chasing his son. They are long unedited cuts that make it seem more.... I don't know.... Real or poignant. Examples: The first, when the well explodes and his son goes deaf and Daniel is running from the well to the shack carrying him. One long cut. Or, when his son sets their cabin on fire and Daniel Chases him and carries him back. Then when he is leaving his son on the train, it's a long cut of him walking away from the train to the car. And finally, the scene where his son comes back and it's a distant shot of Daniel rushing through the field to greet his child. I loved it.
My preconceived notions of this film was that Daniel was supposed to play some sort of anti-hero but I was surprised to realize it was the opposite.
Regardless of my ramblings, as I am indulging in "Christmas Spirit", I loved this film and can't believe I haven't seen it til now.
