[META] Why are only some movie discussion posts stickied?

How is it decided which movies get stickied? For all the complaining people do on this subreddit about all the shitty sequels being made, it seems only super popular movies (like those sequels) are the ones getting stickied discussion posts (for days or more at a time, no less!)
