[Spoilers] Some questions after watching '71

Fantastic movie, BTW. A real antidote to Fury or American Sniper.

The kid that Hook visits at the start and end of the movie - is that his son or little brother? Hook just seems too young to have a 5 or 6 year old. I'm guessing son which explains his affection for the young Ulster kid. And where was the kid living? Was it a boarding school? How could a young Army private afford a boarding school?

WTH would Hook's unit enter the Catholic neighbourhood without riot gear? That was the only part of the movie that really frustrated me from a realism point of view.

And the young Ulster kid who brings Hook to the bar - could anyone understand anything he was saying? I'm usually okay with Irish accents but his was just unintelligible.
