Need help finding out this movie

So i saw chappie yesterday, and it made me remindedme me of a film i saw on tv in the 90s where there was a thinking robot who fought evil humans. The robot had a mohawk at one point and radioshack parts were used on him (told you this was old). Is anyone here familiar with this film?
