Does anyone know why there were no stars in the sky for the first half of Interstellar? (possible spoilers)

Not sure if this was intentional or deliberate, but up until they near the wormhole, all of the shots of space and outside the shuttle there weren't any stars in the sky? Wondered if there was a reason for this?
