I'm nervous for BvS because I didn't really like "the dark knight returns". How influential will frank miller be?

With the new trailer coming out, and the noted influence from the frank miller graphic novel, I'm worried it's going to take too much from a story I didn't care for. Does anybody else feel this way? I know the graphic novel is widely enjoyed but am I the only one?
