Will we ever recover from the CGI epidemic?

When used correctly, CGI offers solutions for shots that otherwise would be too difficult or expensive to do traditionally. However, is that a cop out?

I find it funny that a lot of older viewers still get fooled by CGI. But if you were like me and grew up in an era of videogames going from 2d, to 3d, to next gen, you can probably spot CGI a mile away. For me, it instantly takes away from the movie and takes me out of my suspension of disbelief.

Will big budget movies ever get away from their heavy reliance on CGI?
