Question about the ending of Jeepers Creepers 2 (spoilers)

I recently rewatched Jeepers Creepers 2 and the ending reignited a question I've had since it came out around a decade ago. Why after all those years while the creature was hanging up on the wall did the father and son never get the idea to cut up the body of the monster, burn each piece individually, take the ashes and seal them up in containers, and bury them across the globe? You would think if they new it was going to be reanimated after 23 years they would have taken every precaution to prevent it from happening. Thats my take on it. Is there something that prevented them from doing it? Or is that just a stupid idea? Thoughts?
