So, the movie I’m thinking of, I can’t think of every detail, but here are the details i can remember:

-The protagonist is a kind of artsy photographer (there are ladies in his studio the entire film long, going there to be photographed)

-One of the biggest conflicts in the movie revolves around him having taken and then blowing up to a very large size, a scene of a park in which a crime was committed.

I BELIEVE the movie was in black and white. In fact, i’m almost 100% certain of that.

We all know Horror movies are meant to scare you. Thats their purpose. But what non-horror movie has scared you?

Myself I have 4. The Bleeding Teddy Bear from Akira. The devil from Fantasia. Nightmareland from Little Nemo (This one inparticular scared the crap out of me as a kid) and finally……Edward Scissorhands messed me up as a kid…

I’ve always loved Jim Varney. Say what you will, but I think the Ernest movies are a hilarious, light-hearted experience that everyone should be able to enjoy. I’ve decided I’m going to host a full-length Ernest Movie Marathon. I’ve got every mainstream Ernest Movie (Ernest Goes to Camp, all the way to Ernest in the Army) as well as almost all of the lesser-known specials he did (like Dr. Otto and the Gloom Beam, Ernest Goes to Splash Mountain, and so on). I plan on watching every single one, in chronological order, all in one day.

My question to you, then: What can I do to add just a little but more enjoyment to this marathon? I’m thinking along the lines of drinking game-type things (except I don’t drink). Like, maybe, I could keep a running tally of how many times Ernest gets hit on the head. Or I could eat a handful of popcorn every time he says “knowhutamean”. Or something like that.

Any ideas? Anyone else feeling inspired to watch all of Jim Varney’s hilarious exploits in denim?

Saw The Shining in the theatre last night and it got me thinking. Is this the best movie based on an SK novel?

I think I remember the guy watching wedding tape or something. It must have been a newer movie made after 2005 perhaps? It sounds like it might be Silver Linings Playbook or The Vow but I don’t think those are it. I also remember that the movie might not be a 100% serious movie and it had a comedic aspect I think. Thanks in advance!

Something that isn’t too over the top, but is still scary; a “beginner” scary, if you will.

I saw this movie as a kid in Europe, circa 1983-1986. Honestly, I don’t much remember the story line, plot or anything of the sort. (“I know, make it harder to figure out, why don’t you!”)

It was about this outer space alien who was a kid and had a triangular shaped high technology artifact that he used for various things. One of the other characters was a jolly fat and bearded actor. IIRC, the movie starts with a cop who’s getting shot at but he catches all of the bullets in his mouth before spitting them out. Obviously, he lived.

Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? :)

For example, I would really like to watch a story of a marriage falling apart, told in two full-length movies, both released at the same time. Each movie is told from one person’s perspective. A lot of planning would have to go into making the two movies different enough so that they are not reiterative (for example, focusing on each person’s background), but even then I think it’s a good concept.

After the announcement of the Phase Three line-up of films, which villains would you like to see make an appearance and which actor or actresses should play them?

Does anyone know of a service where I can download films, i.e so I can watch whilst travelling, and play them on my laptop other than iTunes?

I keep seeing so much positive news about this movie, even experts have it up for winning oscars.

I know I can’t really comment for the movie yet as it isn’t even out but I am sure as fuck keen for a Nolan sci-fi space movie.

So the Chinese market has now established itself firmly in movieland, the demand there is growing super fast, now a sizable portion of the global market, so much so that much of hollywood are adding that “token asian”, recently as cameos (Transformers 4, Iron Man 3, X-Men). This is moving into bigger roles quite quickly - see Blackhat(2015).

A quick projection into the future sees a greater presence of Chinese (and possibly other asian) actors in the hollywood scene who obviously still requires an ability to speak english, as well as a greater exploration of plotlines that involve some aspect of Chinese involvement.

So reddit, where do you think Chinese interest in moviegoing will take Hollywood?

I really am impressed with not only the special effects but the story line with these new planet of the apes movies. I find myself becoming very attached to the characters, apes and humans a like and I am really excited to how the third movie turns out.
